Free Solar Feasibility Study
To initiate the process, we recommend scheduling a brief consultation with our team. During this meeting, we will get a clear understanding of your business’s unique needs and objectives for installing a solar system at your premises.
Following this meeting, our in-house designers can prepare a free feasibility study, including an indicative design and provisional business case, for consideration.
Optimising the Solar System Design
Conducting an energy consumption analysis is an essential step in designing a solar system for a commercial business. This determines the peak demand, usage profile and total energy costs, which are vital for properly sizing the system.
Our designers can then model a system to optimise the return on investment or meet other relevant objectives for your company.
Comprehensive Site Surveys
Before finalising the design and pricing, the proposed site will need to be comprehensively surveyed to ensure that an installation is feasible, that the building structure can take the additional load of solar panels, that the roof condition is appropriate and that there is the correct electrical infrastructure available.
Aside from arranging the professional assessment of the premises, NSI Energy will also advise on any planning and building control requirements.
Grid Connection Agreement
To be able to export electricity to the grid, solar installations on commercial premises will require a grid connection agreement. NSI can apply on behalf of the customer by sending an application to your region’s Distribution Network Operator (DNO) – that is, the organisation that runs the hardware supplying your area of the UK with electricity.
The granting of a grid connection agreement often takes 12 weeks or more and can be on the critical path of a solar project.
John Scott Works Solar Installation
NSI Projects provided a turnkey package to JSW from applying for the grid connection agreement on their behalf through to testing and commissioning of the completed system. We provided full designs, modelled different scenarios and helped the client choose a 98kWp solar system.
FAQ's - Solar System Design
NSI Energy will discuss your energy goals, budget and any specific requirements you may have. Our solar experts will then gather and analyse your historical energy usage data to determine the energy needs of your business. A site visit will be conducted to evaluate the roof or ground space, structural integrity and electrical infrastructure to ensure suitability for a solar system.
The system size and panel configuration should be designed to meet your specific energy needs, capitalise on available space and address your financial goals. Our experienced team will be able to conduct a detailed assessment to ensure an optimal system design for your business.
A system will be designed to maximise solar exposure by considering the available roof or ground space, the orientation of the site, roof characteristics, any shading, operational requirements and aesthetic considerations.
It’s essential to have a professional structural evaluation performed to ensure the roof can safely support the added weight of the solar system and any necessary reinforcements are made before installation.
NSI Energy is able to introduce various financing options fincluding lease finance and power purchase agreements(PPA). Visit our solar panels finance page or complete our contact form to find out more.
Solar panel systems for commercial companies can be designed with future expansion in mind. They can be expanded or upgraded to meet changing energy needs, either by adding more panels to existing arrays, replacing older panels with more efficient ones, or upgrading inverter technology. Energy storage solutions like batteries can also be added later to enhance system capabilities.
Solar energy is a clean, renewable source of power that produces virtually no greenhouse gas emissions during operation. By generating your own clean energy, you directly reduce your fossil fuel consumption which translates to a substantial decrease in your company’s carbon emissions.
Moreover, solar adoption can enhance your business’s reputation as an environmentally conscious organisation.
