Company Background
Formerly Bath Road Studios, HERE is an iconic landmark building transformed into a business hub near the centre of Bristol. HERE has since developed a reputation for quality workspace and generous communal areas as well as offering a vibrant and collaborative business community and is home to a number of innovative enterprises large and small.
Project Approach
To help address the significant energy costs of the HERE building and to support the client’s strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) approach, NSI Energy were asked to design a high performing solar system for the building’s flat roof.
The brief was to maximise the generation of renewable energy on site by using all available space on the roof. This required dealing with 20 older, less efficient solar panels which were removed to make way for far superior new panels.
The instruction was also to take an industry leading approach, which included the installation of a new perimeter mansafe system to ensure easier and safer maintenance of the solar system in years to come as well as bird protection mesh.
NSI Energy managed the project from start to finish. Pre-commencement, this included applying for the grid connection agreement on the clients behalf and helping them secure grant funding. The project ended for NSI after installation was completed and once the system was finally commissioned, tested and signed off.
NSI Energy Solution
The installation of a 93kWp Solaredge system with optimisers, K2 System mountings and 186 Longi Solar panels was completed on time and within budget.
The system is expected to have a superb payback period on the investment of only two years and will generate 90,614kWh per annum. It will save nearly 19 tonnes of carbon emissions each year, the equivalent of planting 835 mature trees.
Ben Paul of Helme+Partners praised NSI Energy and their contractors, saying “We are delighted with the solar system installed by NSI on the flat roof of the property. They provided a turnkey service from modelling a number of alternative designs at the outset, through to project managing the procurement, installation and commissioning. They helped us successfully overcome a couple of unexpected challenges through the course of the project and delivered the system on time and on budget”
